AD 1 and 2

here are two of my ideas

  1. Kat – Am I remembering that your product/service is for commuters, short distance travel that competes with public transportation. I’m not really sure I see that here… this looks more like a vacation package advertisement. And, I’m not clear about the dark glass (only 1/2?) on the young person. Is this the target audience? Hmm… confusion sets in.

It seems like an approach that I almost see you use here is to show the target audience in a familiar setting, but suggest they are elsewhere (their destination). Is that your thinking? I wonder if you need to show “action”, like a person stepping out of one scene (drab old public busing or metro) into the new scene of “home” or “office”. What if they were actually stepping from one to the other? A color contrast would also help us see the difference between the 2 places (maybe bl/wh to color?). Your new product would happen fast, right? So… it would be like taking a step?

Not sure this is what you are thinking, so all this is a guess. Please respond with your written concept so I’m more clear about your intention. Remember, your concept is used for the whole campaign (all 3 ads) – which means they are all a variation of the same message.

If you are having trouble finding high res photos for your composites, just ask and I’ll go look for what you need on getty images, where I have an account. Do you need commuter-looking people walking? I’ll look right now to find you one and send it via email.

Type – leave it off for now. Concentrate on the composite that will tell your story and only then think about the type.

Keep thinking and put some good work into this before next class. Let me know if I can help.

  2. From the first one I get the concept its a door way to a different place. It does get confusing on the second ad, may be you should continue the doorway concept thru out. The first one looks good I'm wondering if you can have it more of a booth like a telephone booth instead may be.
